Dear Classmates of 1958 and Hilsboreans of the 50's:
Again, don’t you find it hard to believe that we are fast approaching the half-century mark since we walked across the stage at the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory and received our high school diplomas? Isn’t it hard to realize that next year, 2005, that all of us are eligible to draw Social Security and be placed on Medicare? Wow, don't you also sometimes stop and think and then realize that all of your high school classmates have entered that dreaded social class called “Senior Citizen”.
Yes, this might all be true but I refused to admit that we are now closer to the end versus the beginning. I for one still feel like a young teenager, eager to face the world and ready to conquer life’s challenges. To me, life has just started and there are many more adventures yet to take before hanging it up. I’m not sure about your plans but my plan is to be the last one to leave. Besides, someone needs to stick around and turnout the lights.
I’m sure you will likewise agree that all we need is a little recharging every now and then, like a class reunion, to get us through the next few years. You must admit that the therapy of reminiscing with life long friends does wonders for your soul and gives you a sense of being young once again, full of excitement, and anxious for tomorrow to come - which leads me to subject at hand.
Hopefully by now you are aware that plans are underway toward making our Mini-Reunion, "Together Again", one for all to remember. Several reunion committees have been formed and they are off identifying and completing the many tasks that are required to make this all possible.
Current plans is to have a Casual/50's Dance at the Zenhad Grotto on November 26, 2005. We will provide the setups and non-alcohol beverages. Likewise, to help us keep the costs down we are asking each one to bring a covered dish (finger food), and yes we'll ask Judy McSwain Bernard to bring her famous pies. Cliff Ritchie is also our scheduled entertainer, he was with us our 45th Reunion in Clearwater in 2003.
So don't miss out on this great time. Signup now. Space is limited so don’t let the time catch up on you and miss out on this great occasion.
We hope to see you soon,
Class of 58's Reunion Committees
