The June 10-17, 2007 Echo Reunion from the perspective of the Hosts, Wayne and Sandy Williams:

Wow! We enjoyed a fun-filled week in Orlando, Florida during the Echo Reunion. Each year the reunions seem to bring out more men who have not previously attended, and to me this is a big part of what these reunions are all about. At these gatherings, the men learn that the camaraderie is not only still there, but that their bond has grown even broader and stronger. Hopefully they take home information that will help make their lives a little more comfortable and the renewed feelings of friendships, which may have been misplaced.

The entire week was so filled with activities that we barely had time to spend as much time with everyone as we would have liked. However, we hope each and every one of you was able to enjoy not only the activities, but also the shared memories and stories from your past experiences. During that week it was wonderful to sit back and watch the interactions between many of you, and then to watch the creation of new friendships. We all shared emotional times, some of which were sad. However, without those the week would have simply been a vacation, not the honest to goodness reunion we have always enjoyed.

The evenings that were spent dining and then reminiscing in our Hospitality Room or out by the pool were special. The golf tournament was something we all enjoyed, as well as the Skeet event and lunch at the VFW, and the beautiful day we spent on the lake for the fish tournament. The shopping and theme park filled days were fun times.

I also would like to confess that among the events we held, from golf to the banquet, the day at the range was the most fulfilling for me. To hit the very first bird made my heart jump a beat. To hit seven overall was even more thrilling. To beat Hank Billings pityingly four birds was a dream come true. Next year watch out Deadeye, and you know who I mean.

Sandy and I were extremely happy to be able to host the reunion this year, and enjoyed the entire week. However, we felt especially blessed that this particular reunion was the one when the family of Gerald Schaaf was introduced. His sister, Judy Leider; brother, Tom Schaaf; and their families highlighted the purpose of these reunions.

We thank each and every one of you for attending and want to say a special thanks to those who participated in bringing the reunion to fruition

See ya in Michigan next year.

Wayne and Sandy
